The regulars
Eight regulars, each with their own playing style, their own cheeky lines and a record against you. Strangers become best mates, close duels become rivalries.
-

SeppGambler
A regular for thirty years, always in the corner by the stove. Rolls as if there’s no tomorrow.
Verliern tuat ma nia – ma gwinnt nur manchmoi später.
You never lose – sometimes you just win later. -

ResiCareful
Waited tables for thirty years and saw everyone’s cards. Plays calmly and counts quietly.
A guater Wirt merkt si ois – vor allem, wer no wos schuldig is.
A good landlady remembers everything – especially who still owes her. -

HiasBluffer
Hunter and storyteller. His stories are rarely true – his calls even more rarely.
Liegt da Nebel überm Wald, is da Bär ned weit. Oder a Kua.
Fog over the forest means a bear is near. Or a cow. -

FerdlUnlucky
Retired postman. Knows every house number in town, but luck always loses his address.
A Talisman hilft immer. Nur ned mir.
A lucky charm always helps. Just never me. -

GittiGambler
Runs the hair salon on the main square and hears everything first. Plays fast, laughs loud and bets it all.
Wos ma beim Friseur hört, stimmt zu 80 Prozent. De andern 20 erfind i dazua.
What you hear at the hairdresser is 80 percent true. I make up the other 20. -

LoislCareful
Old farmer with a pipe and the patience of an ox. Says little, rolls deliberately and wins surprisingly often.
Red wenig, würfel guat.
Talk little, roll well. -

VroniBluffer
Primary school teacher with a stern look over her glasses. Spots every fib – and fibs herself with an innocent face.
Übung macht den Meister. Und du übst no.
Practice makes perfect. And you’re still practising. -

BurgiUnlucky
Baker, up at three every morning and still the last to leave at night. Bad luck sticks to her like dough.
A Krapfen ohne Marmelad is wia a Wurf ohne Sechser.
A doughnut without jam is like a roll without a six.
And every one of them remembers exactly how often you’ve beaten them.
What’s on the table
From a quick round of Little Max to a long evening of Schocken. You pick up the rules as you go – in your first game the regulars show you on the board.

A look inside
What’s waiting for you
Rumours and arch-enemies
Win, and someone leans over with gossip about the others. Beat the person concerned and they have to admit what’s really true. Know all of a regular’s stories and they become your arch-enemy – a matter of honour, not a feud.
A village mystery
“Who stole the maypole?” – over fourteen evenings the regulars tell a bit more, and you pin the clues to the board. The answer makes the village paper.
Dialect with subtitles
The regulars talk the way they always have. Subtitles in English or German – or everything in plain English.
Beat me!
Challenge friends to a duel with a link: the exact same dice for both. Who makes more of them?
Roll with your hand
Hold the cup, shake, let go – and the dice tumble across the felt as if they were right in front of you.
